Balearia Caribbean transported 112,000 passengers on its routes between Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA) and the ports of Bimini and Freeport -Grand Bahama- in the Bahamas islands during the year 2022. If we compare this figure with that obtained during the year 2021 we obtain a 50% increase in the total number of passengers transported. Despite this excellent result, the Fort Lauderdale-based shipping company has not yet recovered the occupancy levels of its 2019 ferry. The passenger occupancy forecast for this year 2023 is to reach 125,000 passengers on its 2 routes ( to Bimini and Freeport Grand Bahama). .
The volume of goods transported has remained at the same level as in 2021, where some 20,000 units have been transported. During the year 2022, the Jaume II ferry from Balearia Caribbean made a total of 450 crossings with a total distance traveled of around 27,000 miles.
This year, during the low season, there have been 4 weekly connections between Florida and Bahamas. These connections become 6 weekly during the summer months. CANADIAN PERMANENT RESIDENTS: SAME DAY OR OVERNIGHT STAY TRAVEL
Canadian Citizens need a valid passport from your home country whose expiration date, after returning from the Bahamas, must not be less than 3 months (direct travel) and not less than 6 months if you are transiting through other countries such as the United States.
Original Canadian permanent resident card - must not be less than 3 months (direct travel) and not less than 6 months if transiting through other countries such as the US.
The ferry crossing time from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini is approximately 2 hours. The sailing duration may vary from season to season, so we recommend you check online.

With Balearia Caribbean you can change the date of your ferry trip if you request it at least 24 hours before the departure time. For each change you make you will have a penalty of $75 plus fare difference (if the price of your new date is more expensive than the price of the reserved date).
Remember that these tickets are not transferable and that the passenger's name cannot be modified under any circumstances.
Balearia Caribbean ferry tickets can be canceled under the following rules:
- Full refund, if the date of request to cancel the reservation is before 7 days of the ferry departure date.
